So I thought that I would give a little update on my trip to Haiti.
Well, there isn't much to update which saddens me. First of all, the girl that I have been communicating with hasn't replied to my email from 2 weeks ago so I'm at a bit of a standstill.
Also, I have been trying to setup our first fundraiser but haven't gotten much of a response. I am feeling rather discouraged because there doesn't seem to be much support from the people I need it from the most. It's hard to feel ambitious to do stuff when it seems that you are doing it all alone and that no one really believes in your cause. I was so on fire about this trip and excited to get everything started, but I've lost that excitement and I believe that satan is really desperately trying to stop me from going on this trip. My cousin told me today that she will not be able to go, my parents really don't seem to support this idea, I didn't get any response from my mass email that I sent to my family about donations, and the due date for the first payment seems to be creeping up very quickly. Can you see why I may be a little discouraged? Well, I am trying to put my faith to work and trust that if this is God's will then he will provide a way. I am ready to work hard and searching for that spark to reignite the fire. Please pray for me in the next couple of weeks that God would show me his will.

Haiti and fashion?
My thoughts are overwhelmed with Haiti.
If you have been following my blog you will know that I usually blog about fashion... so I know this is a big shift in thinking. But thinking of Haiti doesn't mean I don't still think about clothes! lol I was actually going through my closet the other day and picking out stuff to wear there, stuff to bring to donate, garage sale fundraisers etc. I also read something the other day about the women at Heartline treating each other by doing each others hair and nails to pamper themselves. So when it comes down to it, all women have something in common!
I made my first big purchase of my life yesterday, a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 camera. It is an investment into what I hope will be an adventurous future. I dream of travelling around the world to remote towns and teaching women to sew bags and provide for their families. I want to document every moment and take you all along for the journey one Little Red Purse at a time. ;)

A New Adventure
Am I Ready?
Well, I have had a lot of time alone with my thoughts in the past month. I have continued to feel this pull on my heart to do something in the mission field, but of course that would mean giving up so many things in my life... am I ready? I have been reading this blog http://allthingshendrick.blogspot.com and they have been inspiring me to live a more sacrificial life; Read more here.
Since the earthquake in Haiti I had always felt some sort of connection to them. I gathered about 30 pairs of shoes from fellow co-workers and family at the time and donated them through SoftMoc & Soles4Soles.. I didn't know what else someone like me could do, but after some research and lots of reading, I fell upon Heartline Ministries. The Hendrick family works along side them and it is just totally blowing my mind how perfect this organization would be for me. They have many facets to their ministry but I was specifically drawn to their women's programs. Since I studied 2 years of nursing and have a diploma in Fashion Design working with these women in the Early Childhood Development and sewing classes would be amazing. I have been asking God to show me the path He wants me to take in my life and I think this is a great first step in exploring what being a missionary is all about.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" Matthew 28:19 NIV
I will keep you updated, but if you are interested in coming along, have any questions, or would like to show your support, please don't hesitate to write a comment.
