My birthday being around the corner (this Monday), i celebrated it yesterday.

I bought the metallic top from a thrift store as a dress,

but transformed it into a top due to it's oversize.

It was bettter to wear it with some thing fitted at the bottom .

Etsy Virgin

So I was very excited yesterday when I received my very first purchase from Etsy from a very lovely lady from Smelly Shoes vintage. I am not an online shopper, for some reason it scares me. I like to have something tangible before handing over my credit card information. Well I am pleased to announce that I have lost my Etsy virginity. I love browsing the shops but have never taken the plunge to actually purchase something.
Here's the beautiful vintage silver ring I bought:

 

Since it is now January, my shopping ban is officially over and I can shop, and shopping is what I've done. I will share my lovely purchases with you tomorrow once I have time to take some proper pictures. Until then, enjoy this beautiful day.

Vintage

Vintage is hitting the scene in a major way. 

Shows like Madmen are having a huge influence on the fashion industry and people are rethinking 'vintage' and making it modern. I grew up in a 'thrifting' family so it's nothing new to me, but the thought of going into a thrift store terrifies some people. I remember I was hanging out with a friend from design school and she asked me really quietly, "do you want to go to Value Village?" She said she always wanted to go, but didn't want to go by herself. There are so many wonderful things to be discovered, but most people are too scared to get out of their element and do the dirty work.

My vintage 'little red purse' that inspired this blog

I recently read an article in the Toronto Star about a Vintage shop owner (69 Vintage) who digs through mounds of clothes at top secret locations to find that diamond in the rough. Before anything gets shipped off to local AND international thrift stores, a select few of people are chosen to sift through piles of dirty, dusty clothes. To read more about it you can read the article in the link above. It is very interesting to see what happens behind the scenes of our local Vintage shops and where these clothes are coming from.

A blog that I recently discovered,  The Little Black list, takes you along for the ride while she, Tess, tours local Vintage shops in New York City. I want to go to NY just to go vintage shopping! She provides some tips on finding what you want without getting "lost in the sea of used clothing". I think her style is ridiculously wonderful. No one does mash-up better than this girl!

FALL LEAVES

The beauty of fall , are the falling beautiful leaves.
Seems my outfit kinda matched the leaves' colour :-).
Anyways, i was inspired by the vintage blazer that i bought some time back,
I fell in love with the leather details on it.
It was best to wear some thing fitted due to its over size & since im petite, it was a better choice.
