WOWP News: Max Gets a Love Interest!

Aug. 08, 2010 - Los Angeles, California, USA - Aug 08, 2010 - Los Angeles, California, USA - Actor JAKE T AUSTIN at the Teen Choice Awards 2010 - Arrivals held at Universal Studios, Los Angeles. © Red Carpet Pictures

Jake T. Austin had an interesting tidbit to share about the upcoming fourth season of "Wizards of Waverly Place". His character, Max, will be getting a love interest. Jake explains:
I think my character has a love interest coming up. I think a new girl. Someone new to the game. I definitely want a new girl, with raw talent, that would be cool. Well, I’d love Bar Rafaeli or Adriana Lima but I mean that’s shooting for the stars.
You know what they say, Jake! Shoot for the stars and you just might land among them!

Are you excited by this news? We're hoping it will be a long-term love interest and not just a one-episode situation.

Well, we kind of figured as much!

Selena Gomez recently confirmed that the fourth season of "Wizards of Waverly Place", which has yet to begin filming, will be the last.

"I'm really heartbroken about [it...] That's gonna be a terrible time for me," she confesses.

But fret not! Selena also confirms that a second "Wizards" film is in the works. Still no word if it'll be a DCOM or be in theaters, but we, like you, are hoping for the latter!

Jake Responds to Haiti Earthquake

2009 ALMA Awards - Arrivals

While Selena Gomez is encouraging her fans to help out in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake, her "Wizards of Waverly Place" costar, Jake T. Austin, is choosing another way to express his concern. He chose a very... non-Disney word to convey his emotions.

Fans began calling him out, saying he shouldn't swear because he was a role model. He defended himself by saying "I am a person ya know"... and "Im an actor, not a 'Disney star.'"

He has a point, doesn't he? He is fifteen years old. It's not unheard of a teenager to swear. And why are people still expecting Disney stars to be role models? Has no one heard of Miley Cyrus? On the other hand, he probably could have used a different word if he was planning on expressing his thoughts in such a public manner.

What do you think? Is Jake in the wrong or are people overreacting?

Happy Birthday, Jake!

2009 ALMA Awards - Arrivals

Happy birthday, Jake T. Austin! The actor (and singer?) turns 15 today! It's weird to think he's only two years younger than Selena.

Jake T. Austin Sings?

Just about every Disney star sings. Jake T. Austin is the latest one following the trend. But it's not full-on singing, and luckily he's only being featured on Keana Texeira's single, "You Could Be The One". Somehow, we don't see a music career in Jake's future.

New Wizards Movie Details

\ A Summer Soiree\ The Magic of Mentoring

For a lot of non-hardcore fans, one of the most important, yet rarely-mentioned plot lines of "Wizards of Waverly Place" may have slipped by. This line is, of course, the family competition. In each immediate wizards family (that means only parents and children), the sibling must compete against one another to see who can keep their powers into adulthood. Jerry, the patriarch of the Russo family, won his competition but gave up his powers in order to marry Theresa.

So, by now you've probably realized that Alex, Justin, and Max are also in a competition together. Who do you think will win? Most will probably say Justin, including the "Wizards" cast themselves! David Henrie, who plays Justin, says that his character will most likely end up keeping the familial powers. "He's the most responsible, he takes his studying seriously and he'll make the right decision at an important time," David explains. Jennifer Stone (Harper) agrees, but also adds Max into the mix. "I really like someone who works hard and is really disciplined, so I think Justin should win. It’d be hilarious if Max ended up with the powers because he’s the one that everybody least expects." Selena Gomez also picks Justin, but adds "It would be interesting to see Max win because there’s something hidden in him underneath. He’s really paying attention. [Alex] is so independent. She loves magic, but it’s not her No. 1 priority, whereas Justin lives and breathes it, and Max is there and does the work. Alex can find other things to do with her life and her friends and family."

But it's Jake T. Austin who describes the most creative outcome: "I would love it if, in the last episode, our long lost brother or sister that we never knew about came in and won the power … and then did a spin-off." Jake, who plays Max, also revealed a Wizards of Waverly Place: the Movie detail! The actor says that the movie will feature a mini wizards competition, but the results will only be temporary.

None of us, including the cast members, know who will end up keeping the Russo family magical abilities. Justin seems like the obvious choice, but could it end up being the underdog Max?

For now, we'll have to settle for the "temporary results" from Wizards of Waverly Place: the Movie, which premieres on August 28 on Disney Channel.

New Selena Vlog

Selena Gomez is determined to make sure you guys pick up the Wizards of Waverly Place soundtrack on Tuesday (August 4) and watch the film on August 28 when it premieres on Disney Channel. She's so determined, in fact, that she made this cute, sorta funny, sorta annoying video that features Jennifer Stone, Moises Arias, Jake T. Austin, and a bunch of other people.

Our Two Faves!

\ A Summer Soiree\ The Magic of Mentoring

Our two favorite Disney darlings, Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale, appeared at the Summer Soiree - Magic of Mentoring event hosted by the Disney Channel at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on July 24.

Of course, there were other celebs there, like "Sonny With A Chance"'s Tiffany Thornton, Allisyn Arm, and Sterling Knight, as well as Selena's "Wizards" costars, Jake T. Austin, David Henrie, Maria Canals, David DeLuise, and Jennifer Stone. For whatever reason, Ashley's sister, Jennifer Tisdale, was there too.

Selena Gomez's Odd Behavior

Premiere Of Dreamworks & Nickelodeon's

We love Selena Gomez, but this would get annoying!

There are a few rumors that while she attended the premiere of Hotel For Dogs, which stars fellow "Wizard" Jake T. Austin, she stood up and cheered when Jake first appeared onscreen. That's not too bad, she's just being supportive. However, she apparently did it again during a quiet and emotional scene. That is annoying and inappropriate.

Well, we're just glad we weren't there!

The Official(?) Disney Channel Games 2008 List

We've been wondering just who will show up at the Disney Channel Games. And we were pretty accurate.

Miley Cyrus will somehow appear in the games. She will be performing but maybe not playing.

Other "Hannah Montana" stars that will play are Jason Earles and Moises Arias. (What!? No Emily Osment or Mitchel Musso?).

From Camp Rock, we have the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Alyson Stoner, Jasmine Richards, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, and Roshon Fegen.

The Cheetah Girls and One World costar Kunal Sharma will also participate.

Selena Gomez, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, and David Henrie ("Wizards of Waverly Place"), Dylan and Cole Sprouse and Brenda Song ("The Suite Life of Zack and Cody"), and Kyle Massey and Jason Dolley ("Cory in the House") will also play in the games.

Like last year, Disney Channel stars from around the world will play, too. Countries that will be sending out troops are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada*, Japan, Mexico, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.

* = Canada doesn't have a Disney Channel. They have the Family Channel which might as well be the Disney Channel since it's like the same thing. But "Life With Derek" stars are sure to be the Canadians coming.

There are no High School Musical stars, as the games film in May and they are all off in Utah.

We can't be 100% this is accurate but it seems true enough.
